Preeti Raghunath is a Lecturer in Digital Media and Society at the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations, University of Sheffield, UK. Since 2012, her research has engaged with lived experiences of communication technologies and their policies. Her first book was an ethnography of media policymaking in South Asia (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). Her current research explores the social ecologies and policies of AI in India and the UK, including expanding the definitional remit of AI Safety to bring focus to its socio-ecological sides. Preeti has also served on research consultancies with the United Nations University in Macau, studying AI policies and gender in Southeast Asia, and digital transformations and sustainability. She is currently working on her second book on global approaches to AI and Data.
