Michael Hameleers (PhD, University of Amsterdam) is Assistant Professor in Political Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR), Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His research interests include mis- and disinformation, populism, framing, (affective) polarization, and the role of social identity in media effects. He has published extensively on the effects of disinformation and the effectiveness of corrective information. In his research lines on mis- and disinformation, he aims to unravel the context of false information as an informational threat and a delegitimizing label. At the same time, he collaborates with partners in policy and practice to design and develop evidence-based responses to false information.
