Martín Echeverría is the coordinator of the Center for Political Communication Studies and the WAPOR International Chair at the Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico. Recognized as a Level 3 researcher—the highest distinction in Mexico’s National System of Researchers—he specializes in political mediatization, media systems, and the political effects of media. He has published more than 50 academic articles, with half appearing in high-impact international journals, and authored 11 books, including State-Sponsored Disinformation Around the Globe (Routledge, 2024), Political Entertainment in a Post-Authoritarian Democracy: Humor and the Mexican Media (Routledge, 2023), and Media and Politics in Post-Authoritarian Mexico (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023). His work is available in libraries across more than 15 countries and has earned international recognition, including awards from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA). Additionally, one of his papers was selected by the Library of Congress as a representative work of the region. As a leading member of the Political Communication Sections of IAMCR and IPSA, Echeverría contributes to global research initiatives such as Worlds of Journalism (Germany), Journalistic Role Performance (Chile), and Politainment in Times of Media Fragmentation (Spain), fostering collaboration among scholars worldwide.
