Marcelo Alves is a Professor in the Department of Social Communication at the Pontif�cia Universidade Cat�lica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and an associated researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology on Informational Disputes and Sovereignties (INCT/DSI). He serves as the Director of Methodology and Innovation at the Institute Democracy at Risk. Alves coordinates the Center for Technology and Communication (NuTeC/PUC-Rio). He earned his PhD from the Postgraduate Program in Communication at the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF) and holds a master�s degree from the same institution. Alves is also the author of the book #vaipracuba � The Genesis of Right-Wing Networks on Facebook. He was awarded the Comp�s Prize for Theses by Professor Eduardo Pe�uela Ca�izal from the National Association of Postgraduate Programs in Communication, in the category of Best Thesis of 2019, and the UFF Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in the Humanities category.
