Prof. Limor Shifman is a faculty member in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she previously served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She completed her Ph.D. in 2005 and later conducted postdoctoral research at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her research focuses on how social media, particularly user-generated content, shapes values, cultural boundaries, and social hierarchies. Shifman has conducted extensive studies of internet memes, examining these cultural units' broader social and political implications. She currently leads a team of international researchers studying how social media platforms reflect and shape values as part of an ERC-funded project.
