Karina Santos holds a Master's degree in Political Communication from Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and a Bachelor's degree in Communication (Public Relations) from Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). She is also pursuing a postgraduate degree in Digital Law through UERJ in collaboration with the Institute for Technology and Society (ITS Rio). As a researcher, Karina specializes in disinformation, electoral campaigns, and digital democracy. For five years, she was a researcher in the Communication Technologies and Politics Research Group (UERJ), affiliated with INCT.DD. She leads key projects on civic technologies, including Pegabot and Amazonometer. With a decade of experience in digital communication for the nonprofit sector and electoral campaigns, Karina is now the Head of Media and Democracy at the Institute for Technology & Society of Rio (ITS Rio).
