With over 15 years of experience in the broadcast journalism and digital media production industries, Kareem El Damanhoury is a multimedia journalist and content producer who has worked in the United States and the Arab world for numerous outlets, including CNN and PBS, as well as a journalism and media professor and graduate director at the University of Denver's Media, Film & Journalism Studies department. Named by SPJ as the 2024 Educator of the Year in Colorado, he has taught courses on multimedia journalism, newswriting, storytelling, media and politics, edutainment, and the intersection between terrorism and media. He is also an active academic researcher with a track record of scholarly publications in the media and journalism fields, 25+ peer-reviewed journal articles, multiple top research paper awards, and two books with Oxford University Press and University of Georgia Press on the use of media and visual communication strategies by extremist groups
