Ingrid Bachmann is an Associate Professor in the School of Communications at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, where she served as chair of the Journalism Department between 2016 and 2020. She is also the director of the Millennium Nucleus on Digital Inequalities and Opportunities, a research project funded by Chile's National Agency for Research and Development.  A former reporter, her research focuses on the role of news media in the definition of identities and meanings within the public sphere. With 20 years of experience as an academic and researcher in the social sciences, her teaching and scholarship addresses the intersections of exposure to news and misinformation, political communication, and gender. Her scientific production includes more than 40 articles in scientific journals, 3 edited books, 15 book chapters, and the presentation of 85 papers at conferences. She serves in the editorial board of several journalism and communication journals, and currently is Associate Editor of both Annals of the International Communication Association and Communication, Culture & Critique. Her research appears in journals such as Digital Journalism, Feminist Media Studies, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, and International Journal of Public Opinion Research, among others.
