Fabián Padilla is a PhD (c) student in Communication Sciences at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His work is oriented toward understanding visual misinformation and its impact in contrast to textual misinformation, he is an Associate Student at the Millennium Institute for Foundational Research on Data (IMFD) in Chile, part of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and Latam Chequea, the fact-checking group from Latin America. He is a journalist and founder of Chile's main fact-checking media platform: www.fastcheck.cl and the first to be accredited by the network in Chile. For his work with Fast Check and Chilean fact-checking, he won the Journalism of Excellence Award 2019. Mr. Padilla was invited in 2023 by the Ministry of Science to be a member of the first Disinformation Commission, whose goal was to write the first national disinformation report. He is also professor of fact-checking at School of Journalism at Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
