Dongyoung Sohn (Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin) is a professor in the Department of Media & Communication, Hanyang University-Seoul, Korea. Before joining Hanyang University, he served as a faculty member at The Ohio State University in Columbus and the University of South Florida in Tampa, USA. He was also a visiting fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) at The University of Oxford, UK. Currently, he is an affiliated faculty member of the Center for Computational Social Sciences (C2S2) at Hanyang University-Seoul, Korea. His research focuses on network embeddedness, investigating how individuals perceive and interact with various local social settings within networked communication environments, such as social media. His work aims to further understand the micro-foundations of macro social behaviors -- the essential psychological and network-structural conditions that underlie complex social aggregation processes, including the spread of information and the dynamics of public opinion.
