Anita Lavorgna is Associate Professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, where she teaches Sociology and Cybercrime. After her LLM and a PhD at the University of Trento, Dr Lavorgna spent most of her academic career in the UK, where she was Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Southampton (until 2022). Dr Lavorgna's research pivots around cybercrimes and digital social harms, and is mostly based on interdisciplinary approaches. She has pioneered the topic of information pollution (with a special interest on health-related misinformation) within her academic community. Throughout her career, Dr Lavorgna has led several research projects, mostly working across disciplines (criminology, law, computer and data science), and held editorial roles. She has extensive experience with digital methodologies and research ethics, and in cross-sector collaborations. In 2021 she was awarded the Early Career Award by the European Society of Criminology.
