Adriana Amaral is Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Universidade Paulista (S�o Paulo, Brazil) and at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, UERJ (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). She is also a Researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), a foundation linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) that supports Brazilian research. She works at the intersection of digital culture, digital methods, disinformation connected to subcultures and circulation of pop cultures in the Global South and creative industries studies. She was General Chair of MISDOOM - 4th Multidisciplinary International Symposium on Disinformation in Open Online Media- in 2022 and coordinates the Brazilian Team at RISE_SMA- Social Media Analytics for Society and Crisis Communication, an interdisciplinary, international network combining excellent scholars and practitioners to enable vigorous knowledge sharing and to develop solutions for contemporary challenges for Social Media Analytics (SMA). She is also series editor for Routledge's Popular Culture and World Politics. Her works on Disinformation were published in journals such as Media & Communication, Internet Research, Work Organisation, Labour & Globalisation and SPIR.
