University teacher, author, thinker, scholar, journalist, writer, researcher, essayist, poet, novelist, TV and Radio News Analyst, public speaker, moderator, speech writer, humorist, knowledge management expert and professor of communication, Adeniyi is a multi-talented professional with versed experience as a former journalist, a communications and media relations consultant and a trainer cum capacity building enabler. Hardworking and result oriented, his proclivity for productivity and efficiency is unmistakable, leading to multiple recognitions and awards. He is in the middle of stretching these activities, for increased sustainability, legacy and social change, as the opportunity beckons. He had his first degree from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, after which he worked for The Guardian Newspapers, Nigeria, covering various beats in Lagos and Abuja for over a decade. He won the British Chevening Scholarship in 2003 to study International Communications at the University of Leeds, England and began his Ph.D. research immediately after his Master�s Degree programme at the same University. He was awarded his doctorate degree in Communication Studies in 2008, for his research on Internet and Diasporic Communication: Dispersed Nigerians and the Online Mediation of Distance, Longing and Belonging. The research investigated the intersections between international communication and the construction of identity, the evocation of nationalism, and how transnationalism is played up in the matrix. He used the Nigerian Diaspora as a case. His Ph.D. thesis is one of few African-Centred theses earlier published online by the University of Leeds under the joint Etheses Project. The project then ran in conjunction with the Universities of Sheffield and York. He was a Teaching Assistant at the University�s Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) while studying for his Ph.D.Adeniyi returned to his native Nigeria in 2009, working as a Communications Consultant on the World Bank Economic Reform and Governance Project (ERGP) platform at the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Presidency, Abuja. As a consultant, he guided the Bureau in the administration of the multi-million-dollar media and communication project over four and a half years. The project sought to ingrain the new public procurement reform into the hearts and minds of the public contracting and executing audience, for quality, competence and transparency in the nation�s public expenditure process. On the expiration of the contract, he became Lead Consultant at Witswords Consults Limited (WCL), Abuja, before joining Baze University as a Senior Lecturer in Mass Communication. He was the Head of the Department of Mass Communication from 2016 to 2023 (except for a few months in between). Adeniyi became an Associate Professor in September 2018 and a full professor in September 2021-all for his research on diasporic communication essences and the new relevance of strategic and development communication. Adeniyi produced over four dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and books on the fields in singular and joint authorship. He emerged as the first Nigerian professor of diasporic communication. He is now Deputy Dean of the School of Post-Graduate Studies, in addition to his teaching and supervisory responsibilities for undergraduate, master�s level and Ph.D. dissertations.He has been visiting professor of Communication and Multi-Media Design at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, and an external examiner to many universities, including the Universities of Abuja, Pen Resource University, Gombe, and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Communication and Development, Adeniyi, speaks regularly in various spaces, acting as a commentator, programme moderator, resource person, public affairs analyst, or as motivational narrator.
