Michael Chan is an Associate Professor at the School of Journalism & Communication, Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research examines the roles and consequences of digital technologies and communications in politics, society, and journalism; and his works have appeared in journals such as Political Communication, International Journal of Press/Politics, Journal of Communication, and Digital Journalism, among others. His current projects involve several international collaborations that adopt comparative approaches to understand how and why audiences consume news, the role of social media news in citizens' democratic engagement, and the processes underlying the individual belief and sharing of misinformation as well as the interventions that can attenuate them.
