Julien Labarre, PhD is an award-winning instructor and political science researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research straddles American and French politics, political communication, and political behavior. His primary interests are media systems and information quality, disinformation, and pathologies of democracy like epistemic vulnerability, extremism and polarization.

Julien Labarre is also the administrator of UCSB's Center for Information Technology and Society. His work has been published in Political Communication, the International Journal of Press/Politics, and the Journal of Information Technology and Politics. His research has also found its way into prominent national and international media like The New York Times, LeMonde, Médiapart, Libération, and the Huffington Post.

As of August 2024, Julien Labarre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
