Dr Stetka is Reader (Associate Professor) in Comparative Political Communication at the Department of Communication and Media, Loughborough University, where he has been working since 2016, and since 2024 he has been serving in the role of Research and Innovation Director. He has held research and academic posts at Masaryk University in Brno (where he received his PhD from), Charles University in Prague, and the University of Oxford. His research interests encompass political communication in the digital environment, the dissemination and impact of mis/disinformation, and the relationship between media and democracy in post-transition countries. He is member of the Network of European Political Communication Scholars (NEPOCS) and has been contributing to several other international research projects and networks, including Media Pluralism Monitor (European University Institute, Florence) or Digital News Report (University of Oxford). His new book (with S.Mihelj) is titled "The Illiberal Public Sphere: Media in Polarized Societies" (Palgrave 2024, Open Access).
