Trust Matsilele is an academic, political commentator and former journalist. He is an interdisciplinary researcher with an interest in the changing journalism ecologies, recruitment and retention practices in African newsrooms, the intersection of journalism and technologies and social media and protest cultures.He has published two books, Social media and digital dissidence in Zimbabwe (Palgrave 2022) and the New journalism ecologies in East and Southern Africa (Palgrave 2023). He has been published in some of the leading journalism and communication journals: Digital Journalism, Media Culture & Society, Journal of Asian and African Studies, and Information, Communication & Society.
