Shishir K Jha is present a Professor and the ex-Head at the Ashank Desai Center for Policy Studies, IIT Bombay. He was previously a professor at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management at IIT Bombay. He holds a dual Masters degree in Business Administration and International Relations and a PhD in Political Science from Syracuse University, NY, USA. He has over twenty-eight years of teaching experience at different institutions, including IIT Bombay and Ithaca College, New York. He has also taught as a visiting faculty at IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode. He is actively engaged in analyzing and theorizing various aspects of the data economy, particularly the impact of digitization on knowledge flows. He has graduated twelve doctoral students as eitherthe guide or the co-guide. He has been actively involved with institutional building practices within IIT Bombay. He was the National Lead for the launch of the Creative Commons India chapter in 2007.
