Professor Perez is a Full Professor at the University of Costa Rica. He obtained a PhD from the JWG University of Frankfurt, Germany. Currently, he is the Director of the Master's Program in Cognitive Sciences and the Editor-in-Chief of the Actualidades en Psicologia journal at the University of Costa Rica. His main research area is the psychology of the use and effects of digital technologies; specifically, the incorporation of these technologies in the socialization and individuation of children and adolescents, as well as the social-cognitive mechanisms associated with the acceptance and spread of disinformation messages, and the identification of cognitive strategies for their reduction.Moreover, Prof. Perez is a member of the Latin American Kids Online Network associated with Global Kids Online (UNICEF), whose objective is to research digital skills, opportunities, risks, and benefits of internet use from a children's rights perspective.
