Dr Jon Roozenbeek is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge. Using a variety of methodologies from psychology, the humanities, and computer science, his work explores the dynamics of mis- and disinformation in both online and offline environments, with a focus on the design of interventions that seek to combat misinformation susceptibility at scale. As part of this work, he has helped develop a series of "fake news" games such as Bad News, Harmony Square, and Go Viral. Jon also works on polarisation, propaganda and identity building in conflict zones, primarily Russia and Ukraine. His PhD (2020) examined media discourse and identity in occupied eastern Ukraine after the 2014 Euromaidan revolution. Jon has won several awards for his research, including the frank Prize in Public Interest Communications and the Brouwer Trust in Science Award from the Royal Holland Academy of Sciences.
