Joao Guilherme Bastos dos Santos is a researcher at the Brazilian National Institute of Science and Technology for Digital Democracy (INCT.DD), member of the Carnegie Endowment's Partnership for Countering Influence Operations Researchers' Guild (PCIO) and Data Analyst of Rooted in Trust Brazil (Internews/RiT 2.0). Received an Honorable Mention at the X Brazilian Workshop on Social Network Analysis and Mining (BraSNAM 2021) / Congress of the Brazilian Computer Society in 2021 for work about Bots and Election during his postdoc at INCT.DD. Recent publications include Media, Culture & Society, Journal of Information Technology & Politics, Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast & Audio Media, Brazilian Journal of Information Systems, among others. Book chapters include Cambridge University Press and most important Brazilian university Presses. Currently focused on applied research and coding to deal with rumors, misinfomration, influence operations and disinformation campaigns, He has worked with several initiatives to fight false information on the pandemic, vaccines, electoral processes, and climate change, combining coding, quantitative and qualitative methods. Doctor in Communication at Rio de Janeiro State University School of Social Communication, Brazil, including a doctoral visit supervised by Stephen Coleman at the School of Media and Communication, University of Leeds, United Kingdom.
