Jianfei Cao is an assistant Professor of Economics at Northeastern University. Prior to his current position, he earned his PhD in Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His research focuses on applied and theoretical econometrics. Specifically, he has conducted extensive research in machine learning methods applied to economic problems, causal inference in comparative case studies, and weak identification. Recently, he has been studying the application of unsupervised learning methods for forming clustering structures to aid in estimating and inferring causal effects.
