Professor Frank Esser holds a Chair of “International and Comparative Media Research” at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. For many years, he was Head of the Department of Communication and Media Research. The department belongs to the Top 16 Communication programs in the world, according to the QS University Ranking and the Shanghai Academic Ranking. Frank Esser has spent several years at universities in the United States and Canada, including at U of Missouri-Columbia, U of Oklahoma-Norman, U of Texas-Austin, and U of California-San Diego. He has held leading functions in the International Communication Association (ICA) and the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), and last year, he was elected Fellow of the ICA. His research on misinformation has won “Best Article of the Year” awards from the International Journal of Press/Politics and the Political Communication Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
