Edda Humprecht (PhD University of Zurich) is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Previously she was a Senior Scholar at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Her research focuses on online communication and the changing digital landscape. She studies the extent to which digitalization offers new opportunity structures for the spread of phenomena such as disinformation, conspiracy narratives, and hate speech. She am interested in the effects of manipulative communication and ways to empower news users against such manipulation. Her research has been recognised with several awards she has published in the leading outlets in her field, such as the Journal of Communication, IJPP, and Digital Journalism.
