Dr Damiano Spina is a Senior Lecturer and DECRA Fellow at RMIT University (School of Computing Technologies), Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Information Discovery and Data Analytics (CIDDA), an Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S), and a research collaborator of RMIT FactLab.His research areas are Information Retrieval and Text Analytics. In particular, his research focuses on Interactive Information Retrieval (IIR) � including user-system interactions in voice-enabled intelligent assistants � and evaluation of information access systems � including effectiveness measures of search engines and fairness-aware evaluation.Dr. Spina completed his PhD in Computer Science in (2014, UNED, Spain). Previously, he received a M.S. in Language Technologies on the Web (2011, UNED, Spain) and a Bs.D. in Computer Science (2008, Complutense University of Madrid, Spain). He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves as an associate editor for ACM TOIS and as editorial board member for the journals IP&M and MDPI Information. He has experience in co-organising evaluation campaigns such as EXIST and RepLab, as well as international workshops. In 2021, Spina was the recipient of the RMIT Research Impact Award (Technology).
