Carlos Brenes Peralta is an associate researcher in Psychology of Disinformation at the Institute of Psychological Research of the University of Costa Rica, as well as a Lecturer at the School of Psychology. Previously at the same university, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in multi-disciplinary public opinion research at the Center for Political Research and Studies. In the domain of disinformation, he participated in the 100 questions initiative organized by the OECD and NYU. Also he worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Communication Science of the University of Amsterdam. Other academic endeavors include the Coordination of a Political Communication Programme and Project Adviser on Public Innovation and Leadership at FLACSO University. Beyond academia, Carlos has worked as a consultant in the private and civil society sectors and co-chairs a foundation that tackles biodiversity loss, climate change and poverty in urban Costa Rica. Carlos holds a PhD in Political Communication (University of Amsterdam), a Master´s degree in Social Research and Communication Science (Free University of Amsterdam) and a Licentiate degree in Psychology (University of Costa Rica).
