CICESE Research Center

Dr. Garcia-Macias holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG), France. He is currently a researcher at CICESE, working in the Computer Science Department, he is also a member of the National System of Researchers, and of the Mexican Academy of Computing (AMEXCOMP). He has directed international projects in the fields of computing and networking for socially-oriented applications including sectors such as agriculture, healthcare and urban development. He is currently coordinating the efforts to create a research center, within the regional public university, focused on the impacts of new technologies (such as social media, AI, etc) on our societies. He has also participated as technical judge in the Ibero-american Urbanism Biennal (https://bienaliberoamericana.org). His current research interests are urban and social computing, technology risks, agnotology, and next-generation Internet platforms.
