About the IPIE
The Swiss-based International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) is an independent and global science organization providing scientific knowledge about the health of the world's information environment. Based in Switzerland, the IPIE offers, industry, and civil society actionable scientific assessments about threats to the information environment, including AI bias, algorithmic manipulation, and disinformation. The IPIE is the only scientific body systematically organizing, evaluating, and elevating research with the broad aim of improving the global information environment. Hundreds of researchers worldwide contribute to the IPIE's reports.
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate for the role of:
Assistant for Social Media and Content Management (Student)
The candidate will support the IPIE’s social media presence across multiple platforms. This role is integral to enhancing the visibility of the IPIE’s work, supporting audience engagement, and ensuring consistent messaging across digital channels and the IPIE’s website.
At the IPIE, we believe that an effective social media presence is essential for ensuring our scientific research reaches policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society actors. As the Assistant for Social Media and Content Management, you will play a key role in shaping the IPIE’s online voice and amplifying our work. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of digital strategies that increase audience engagement and bring attention to critical issues in the global information environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the IPIE’s social media strategy;
- Support the planning, conceptualization, and implementation of social media content;
- Contribute creativity to the content design of our social media channels;
- Support with website content management;
- Update scientist profiles on the IPIE website;
- Support reviews of website and social media analytics;
- Support design and publication of the IPIE’s scientific reports.
Candidate Criteria
- You are a student studying marketing, media, communication sciences, or economics with a specialization in marketing or a similar suitable course of study;
- Ideally, you bring experience managing social media for a charitable, research, or other global organization;
- Social media affinity, creativity, and copywriting skills;
- Experience creating multimedia content, including basic graphic design and video editing;
- Knowledge of social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, or native platform tools);
- Strong analytical skills to assess social media performance;
- Knowledge of social media trends, engagement strategies, and audience-building techniques;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken), German knowledge is a plus;
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

- Title: Assistant Social Media and Content Management (Part-Time, Hourly);
- Start: Immediately or by arrangement;
- Reports To: Executive Director of the Secretariat;
- Location: Remote work—though location in Oxford, London or Zurich is a plus;
- Contract: Consulting duration of 6 months, renewable;
- Full-time equivalent: 20-30% (approximately 1-2 hours per day.
